Alice brushed her long curly blonde hair back. She would have straightened it, but now days she lets her be herself. Looking at herself in the tall mirror, she blinked her crystal blue eyes before coating on a dark shade of red on her lonesome lips. A sigh escaped her lips before she smoothed out her red skirt and slid her tanned bag up her shoulder more. Alice hurried out the door of her small apartment, a million thoughts going through her head. She walked down sidewalk, counting her steps to the cafe. She got to 354 just like always. As she stepped into the calm coffee scented cafe, she waved at the well-known cashier. An old lonely man that quite enjoyed Alice's company for business was slow. "The usual Alice?" he asked from behind the counter as Alice took her normal seat in the comfy chairs by the small yet warm fire. Alice smiled, "yes please," she replied as she searched her bag for her pen and red binder notebook. Taking out the two items she smiled. She opened up her notebook, memories swirling around her. And then the familiar bell dinged as someone came through the room. Alice's blue eyes drifted up to meet the strangers brown eyes. Was it him? It couldn't be. He left her years ago. Memories flooded back to Alice. But in dismay the stranger turned out to be a look alike. Alice frowned lightly not wanting to go back to the memories. But her brain wasn't obeying her. Her heart ached. And then she was flipping through her journal pages again, trying to relive her old memories. She was missing him. Her troublemaker.

April 25
Alice was once again in the cafe, curled up on the couch with her notebook. It was mid-April, the rainy season. It was cold and wet outside the rain making little ping noises as it crashed against the windows. It was cold outside and Alice was glad she was curled up by the fire, one hand curled around a warm cup of coffee and the other flipping through the pages of her favorite book. She brought the mug to her lips, the whip cream getting on the tip of her nose as her eyes stared down at the words on her book. She was in her own world, the words swirling around her as they seemed to dance off of the pages. Alice, who was distracted by the intense novel, did not notice the dark yet handsome man come in, dressed in leather and typical bad boy stereo type clothing. Water droplets dribbled down the man’s coat as his dark yet warm brown eyes trailed the room, stopping at the young, naïve girl, Alice. A smile played on his lips as he took her in, a girl with long blonde hair in a sweater reading a book. It was not his type, maybe that’s why he was so intrigued by her appearance. In need of warmth, the man walked over to the counter, ordering a small cup of coffee, and then took the cup, bringing it to his lips in need of the warmth that it brought before walking over to where Alice sat, unmoving as her eyes scanned the pages. Alice was in her thoughts, not noticing the man look over at her until he said, “You’ve got something on your nose there,” with a grin. The abrupt gravely, dark voice brought Alice to a halt, as he jumped slightly in her seat. She cautiously looked over at the man from her book, with a small smile. She looked down at her nose, in attempt to see if there was any, but that just made her eyes crossed. The man laughed lightly, “Here,” he said as he brought a tissue up to her nose, whipping the cream off swiftly. Alice giggled lightly, “And you are?” she asked as she sat upright, setting her book off to the side as she too took in his appearance. Not a guy from around here, not from the posh side of the city at least, dark details, leather, studs, sharp jawline, stubble, and oh -- the heart melting gorgeous brown eyes. Alice found herself staring into his eyes. She swallowed lightly; chewing on the bottom of her lip as she quickly looked away, staring down at her hands in her lap. He grunted softly, as if to clear the uneasiness boulder that grew in his throat. “Zayn, and you gorgeous?” he replied placing on a playful smirk as he took a seat next to Alice. Typical flirtation, Alice never got that attention and now it felt great. “Alice,” she replied simply. Little did she know that the two would become an unlikely duo. Who knew? The miss goody two shoes and the bad boy. The two talked for a while, Zayn would crack a few jokes and Alice would giggle. “Now, correct me if I’m wrong, you don’t seem like the girl who would go out with me, on an adventure?” he asked with a sly smile as he looked over at her. Alice felt her cheeks heat up, she looked down at her empty coffee mug. “Well, no I’m not the adventurous type and I’m not looking for any thriller.” She replied slowly before looking up at him with a soft apologetic smile. It was true for the most part, Alice hated breaking any rules and thrillers scared her, like rollercoasters. “Good, now I can show you the part of the world you’re missing out on,” Zayn replied with a small smirk as he took Alice’s notebook. Alice watched him; amused and half scarred that Zayn might read her notebook, her writing. But to her relief, Zayn just flipped to a clean page at the end, scribbling down something with the pen. He handed the notebook back to her as he stood. “Tomorrow,” he said with a nod. Alice raised a brow, glancing down at the notebook. There, in Zayn’s handwriting was what Alice assumed was his phone number and a note. “Call me, looking forward for our adventure,” it read. Alice’s jaw opened slightly forming a ‘o’. She looked back up to meet his warm brown eyes. “But-“she started but just like that, the mysterious man, Zayn was gone.

“Alice?” the old man called, tapping her shoulder. Abruptly, Alice was pulled out of her daydream, and into the present, losing the sight of his warm brown eyes. Her blue eyes shifted to the man’s as she realized he was holding her coffee mug, an outstretched arm for her to take. “Thanks,” Alice breathed lightly, giving the man a smile as she graciously took the mug. Taking a sip of the familiar flavor, she let out a sigh from her parted striking red lips as the old man walked back to his place, shaking his head lightly. Alice frowned after taking another sip, those memories, as painful as they were she longed to go back to them. Before she knew it she found herself flipping through the pages of her journal, where she kept her secrets, his secrets, their secrets, and tried to relive the past. It was time for their adventure together.
